A date? Like a - like a date? [Well, they had been kind of kissing... a lot... so why not a date? They didn't need cafes or arcades to visit to have a date.] We could walk around the lake?

Okay. When do you want to go? I can go today if you'd like. I could get some left overs and bring them along with me or something.

[This would technically be his first date so he was a little nervous about it. He wanted to make sure Gokudera would have a good time, too.]

I could bring some too. We could have a cold weather picnic. Though it might be better to go back inside for that kinda thing...

[He sounds a bit excited when he speaks next.]

Okay! Where do you want to meet up?

It's not super exciting. I think I found some canned mackerel is all. Your friend likes that, right?

[Makoto also makes it a point to try to look as nice as he can with the limited amount of clothing he had. He brushed his hair a little more, but there really wasn't much that he could do.

After grabbing a spare blanket and some food, he stuffed it into a bag and headed out, making sure to sign himself out of the Halfway House before he left.

It was then he headed towards the skyscraper, excited to see Gokudera again.]

[Gokudera didn't have much for food - at least, as far as things that were 'good'. They were nutritious and provided sustenance, and that was kinda it. Still, he packed up what he could and brought it with him, jogging lightly in his excitement to see Makoto again. He anxiously looked around for the other boy when he arrived, figuring he'd just sit and wait if he had beaten Makoto there.]

[Once he arrived to the skyscraper, he looked around and quickly spotted familiar light hair. He lifted a hand in the air with a smile.]

Hayato!

[He walked over to him quickly, his long legs helping him close the distance.]

Makoto! [Gokudera smiles a stupidly bright smile. Makoto's cheer is infectious that way, and he quickly jogs up to meet Makoto halfway. Well, okay, more like 1/3 of the way, Makoto's legs ARE longer.

Is this an appropriate time to kiss? How does he even know? Shit!] It's good to see you.

[It may not have been a kiss, but Makoto wraps his arms around the smaller boy in a tight hug before pulling away, leaving his hands on his shoulders.]

It's good to see you, too. How have you been? It's been a little while since we've seen each other.

[Considering how much they hang out. But he's been busy with medical classes and what not.]

Mmm. I've been keeping busy. There's always something to do. Ah, before I forget - [he pulls out two cans from his bag, the mackerel he found.] I'm not sure if it's still good, but... maybe? [The expiration date on it is for 2050... who knows what world they came from, what year it was there.]

How are your classes going?

[He perks up when he sees the mackerel. He knows Haru is going to snatch those right out of his hands.]

We'll test it out and see. Thank you so much. I think this will win his favor, definitely. Haha! [Unlike you winning Rei's. He knows what you did.]

They're going well. I'm learning a lot from Unohana-san. Since I already know things like CPR and basic first aid from swimming and having little siblings, we're able to skip that.

What about you? Have you started any new projects?

[He and Rei were dudes and punched it out, it's fine, clearly their friendship is even stronger now. Get with the little boys fighting anime program.]

I'm drafting up some greenhouse plans, I'm not sure when I'll get to it though. Winter's not easy for working on projects aside from scavenging and hunting, so it's a lot of planning for how to use my time when things heat up again.

[Welp, if the punch means their friends now.]

If you want some start up seeds for it, I think we'll have some to spare from our greenhouse. I can help you if you'd like. Labrador-san has me help with gardening already.

Yeah? I'll keep that in mind, thanks. Seems like it'd be good to get some variety in food, you know? Not that I'm much of a gardener myself, but... I'm a quick learner. [He takes Makoto's hand and begins to walk around the still mostly frozen lake, just enjoying his time spent with the other boy.]

[He laces their fingers together and walks with him contentedly. He wondered if he should bring up the Rei thing, but thought better of it. Those two would work it out in their own time.]

So the Halfway house really is just a halfway house and we have to move out eventually.

It seemed like it was getting kinda crowded. [He'd invite Makoto to stay with him, but... he knows Makoto will want to stick by his friends, and Gokudera's not sure how Mukuro would like the whole damn swim team. Probably not at all. Or too much...]

Do you have a place in mind?

[The thought of Nagisa and Mukuro ever meeting was like a match made in Hell.]

Mm-mm. I really don't know where to begin. I know that I want something where we can each have our own rooms. Ah...maybe just four since Rei and Nagisa are a couple now and I don't think they would mind. Running water is a must for Haru. We have to prevent him from running off to the lake by himself somehow.

[He's like the mommy of the group, he would feel bad leaving his chicks behind.]

You're gonna want something in the northeast quarter, then... people come and go all the time, so maybe someplace is newly vacated. We can look around on our next date. Er, you know, if you want.

[He nods at that.]

Okay, we can do that. [He smiles.]

That way when my team and I look around, we'll already have some starting points.

[He then looks a bit bashful.]

I was thinking that it would be nice to live with you, too.

It's something to think about later, right?

[Gokudera blushed, squeezing Makoto's hand.] You don't think that'd be a headache waiting to happen? I don't get along so great with all of your friends.

Haru likes you from what I've told him about you and I'm sure he'll like you more from this gift. Nagisa seems to like you, too. Gou also doesn't seem to have a problem.

[He pauses in their walking and gives him a light boop on the head.]

As long as you don't punch Rei again and things are properly talked about, I think you two will be fine as well.

But like I said, that's a discussion for another time.

I don't want to pull you away from your friend either.

I won't punch him again if he doesn't piss me off again. [Said very matter-of-fact like, though Gokudera doesn't have much venom in his tone. Punching people isn't exactly a huge deal in his world.]

...Mukuro isn't my friend. He's my teammate. And back in our world - well, it's complicated.
