[He's a little surprised at the sudden embrace, but leans into him all the same.]

No..it's okay, Hayato. It couldn't be helped. I should have been more careful, but things got out of hand...

[Gokudera reaches up to stroke gently at Makoto's hair as he holds the other boy close. Thinking about Makoto in danger makes him both angry and upset at the same time, and only having Makoto safe and here with him keeps him from crying or punching a hole in the wall.]

You can't predict something like that. It happens... more frequently than should be possible here.

Are your friends okay too? [He realizes belatedly he probably should have asked that a little earlier.]

[Makoto closes his eyes from his hair being pet so gently. He breathes in deeply, relishing in the comforting feeling. After that whole fiasco, even travelling to Gokudera's house set his nerves on edge and he felt safe in his arms.]

I know...I'm sorry to make you worry...

[He moves his head to look at him.]

Haru is okay and Rin got hurt, too, but it wasn't from the monster. Rin had a really bad awakening here...

[Gokudera is content to keep Makoto right fucking there, petting his hair and just cuddling his boyfriend.]

Was he the redhead on the network...?

[And Makoto was comfortable where he was as well.]

Yeah...That was him. None of our words could reach him, so he ran every time we tried to go after him.

Then when we chased after him, that's when the monster found us.

[He let out a sigh]

I'm just glad that he and Haru didn't get hurt too badly.

Is he doing better now...? [He got hurt? Good. Good, putting Makoto and Haru through that. Though Gokudera kept those thoughts to himself.]

[He nods.]

The atmosphere is really heavy, though. He came from a different time than the rest of us did.

[He lets out another sigh.]

I'm really worried about both Haru and Rin.

[He shifts on the couch so that he can be a better pillow for Makoto.]

[Every man likes a good lap and he takes it. He lays his head in Gokudera's lap and looks up at him.]

It's something that happened in our world. He wanted to swim the relay with us like he did when we were in elementary school.

He's from before we swam relay with him for regionals.

So...since that never happened for him, he's disconnected from us.

[Gokudera began stroking Makoto's hair again, long fingers softly brushing against his scalp, gently parting the locks, carefully and gently working out any little tangles he might find. Hey, brushes in good condition are rare here.]

The Tenth, he was here... really briefly, when I first showed up. It was strange, though. He arrived at the same time as the Baseball Idiot an' I, but he was from a different time from us. He was so anxious, because he was from before he had faced this enemy that at the time seemed... well, like a god, and impossible to defeat. It took Yamamoto and I a while to convince him that not only did we make it through, but the Tenth had defeated him.

[He closes his eyes again. This feels heavenly. He now knows how cats feel when they're getting their heads pet.]

I know that it's going to take a while to get the same kind of connection that we got back after we raced the relay together.

It's just hard since we all care about him so much and he doesn't understand.

If your friends are even half as sincere as you are, your feelings will reach him. I know they will. It'll just be a matter of time.

And I guess the bright side about this place is you have to deal with your problems sooner or later. There's not much else to do here other than that, and survive.

[He smiles, his eyes still closed from the wonderful petting. There's a small blush on his cheeks from getting complimented.]

Yeah...you're right. I have faith that he'll be okay just like last time. I still can't help but worry. Hahaha...

Haru often says I'm a busybody because I worry too much. Haha! I think it's a little true.

[He kind of changes the subject, though from hearing the bit of information Gokudera gave him.]

It's...really dangerous in your world, isn't it?

Hmm... [Gokudera thinks that over as he strokes Makoto's hair, sighing a bit.] I don't really think of it as 'dangerous', but... I've been living in it my whole life. It's more dangerous than your world, that's for sure. But yeah, my life has been in danger more than a few times.

[He opens his eyes and looks concerned about that. It's a kind of look that says 'I wish that weren't the case and please be careful in your world and I wish I could be there to make sure you're all right and even though you're right here, I'm concerned for your well being in your world"]

That's...not entirely good.

We've always made it out okay. [He does try to see it from Makoto's perspective and play down the danger aspect, but it's difficult when it really is just a fact of life for him.] It isn't like I'm alone there, there's the rest of my team. The only one of us who's really gotten hurt was Yamamoto and ... and he turned out alright. [Due to a miracle, and not without a lot of stress on Gokudera's part. Glossing over that, though.]

[He nods at that and reaches a hand up to brush against Gokudera's cheek.]

Just try to take care of yourself in your world.

[He didn't really want to think of Gokudera going back to his world, but it was a fact of that world that he could leave at anytime.]

You have to be well enough to find the "other me", remember? Haha...

Ha, last I checked even in a really bad timeline, I'm still alive and kicking and doing well for myself at twenty-four. [From what he's been told, anyway. He obviously hasn't met his ten-year-later self, that kinda violates all kinds of space-time laws. He leans into Makoto's soft touch, closing his eyes.] And I'm definitely not going to forget about you. No matter what happens... I'll always look for you.

[He smiles softly at that, but it's a bit of a sad smile. It made his heart do a soft pitter-patter upon hearing such noble words.]

I promise the same thing.

[Even if it's an empty promise, he hopes making it will give it some meaning to his mind whenever he goes back.

He drops his hand and closes his eyes again. He's looking very comfortable and peaceful there.]
